Only Eat Almonds Direct from Farmer

Why you ask?

Almonds sold in the retail stores have NOT BEEN STORED properly! They will not taste as good as farmer direct, especially as you get further from harvest time (August/September). Warehouses and stores store them at room temperature and humidity. Humidity and moisture can have large negative affects on almond kernal storage. Shelled almonds, when properly dried, will retain quality for a year or more at 32°F longer at 0°F and 60-75% humidity. Raw Almonds sold in retail stores are NOT RAW. They have been pasteurized by law or they are foreign (Spain, Italy, etc). Support your California farmer (which supports the US economy) and buy your raw almonds from California farmers. Make sure that farmer confirms they are raw. It is legal to buy unpasteurized raw almonds direct from the farmer. Pasteurization means if they organic they have been steam pasteurized which is not good since it induces more moisture (they wont store as well), dont taste as well as a truly raw almond.

Typically almonds purchased direct from the farmer will be more economical than from the stores and at Capay Hills Orchard, the shipping is FREE.
